Respect Your Mother

Well, this isn't really a plumbing fact, per se. But the information should make you realize not only money savings in water conservation, but an even bigger savings: Us. The Earth holds somewhere in the neighborhood of 326 million, trillion gallons of water. Roughly 98% of that liquid lies in the oceans of the world, unusable for drinking (because of the salt content). That means only around 2% of the water on Earth is fresh, but 1.6% of that liquid is locked up in ice caps and glaciers. Another 0.36% is found in very deep, underground sources, meaning only about 0.036% of the total water supply on our planet is found in lakes, rivers and streams (a.k.a. our main supplies of drinking water). So...exactly how much is three one-hundreths of one percent, anyway?

Not enough that we should be throwing it away like yesterday's newspaper. So be smart. Do your part.
